What we learned shipping internal notes
We are watching the numbers for a week before turning it on by default. Anything already in flight when this went out finishes under the old path. It shipped behind a flag first, so a handful of workspaces have been on it for a fortnight.
How it works
It works the same way on the public site and inside the widget, with no configuration to turn on. We rewrote this part rather than patching it, because the old approach ran out of room. The docs page for this was rewritten alongside it.
- Enable internal notes.
- Enable webhook retries.
- Enable Zapier triggers.
- Enable dark mode.
Step by step
There is nothing to do on your side; the change is already in front of you. The change is backwards compatible, so integrations built against the old shape carry on unchanged.
What changes
Most teams will notice this first on the busiest screen they use. Existing setups keep working exactly as they did — nothing needs migrating. The setting lives under Settings, and defaults to the behaviour you already had.
Limits
It is slower on the first load and faster on every one after. The API returns the same fields it always has, with one addition.
- Enable role-based permissions.
- Enable a Linear two-way sync.
- Enable duplicate detection.
- Enable custom domains.
Next steps
This has been the most requested change on the board for a while, and it is now live for every workspace. Two long-standing reports close with this, and both are linked below. Nothing about billing changes, on any plan.
